3DPS Product Information: Microsoft Windows 7 OS End of Life Notice
This information note references the End Of Life Support notice that Microsoft® issued for the Windows® 7 Operating System.

The 3DPS™ product, as shown below, is installed with the Windows 7 Operating System. On 14th January 2020, Microsoft announced that support for the operating system had ceased with no further security updates being issued.
The 3DPS system will operate normally for the purposes of data acquisition and data processing. However the end of life support for the operating system presents a security risk if the unit is connected to the Internet either individually or as part of a larger network.
This note therefore advises that the 3DPS product, running Windows 7 OS, is never connected to an external network to protect it from network security risks and viruses.
Upgrade Options
The 3DPS upgrade package consists of:
- Upgrade to Windows 10 Operating System
- Upgrade to 1TB Solid State Disk Drive
- Upgrade to Nvidia® GeForce® 1080 graphics card
The OS upgrade ensures protection from network security risks and viruses whilst the SSD and graphics card upgrades enhance the capability of the unit to support the latest version of Underwater Survey Explorer (USE) software for Echoscope® 3D sonar data acquisition and processing.
