Overview

The DAVD Flex is a complete end-to-end diver management solution incorporating a critically high-resolution see-through head-up display (HUD) embedded directly inside the diving helmet and integrated noise cancelling digital communications - facilitating seamless real-time information exchange between divers and supervisors. The HUD provides a unique mixed reality 3D display, with real-time imagery in a 1st or 3rd person perspective, including the use of live sonar and 3d models.

Supervisors use Coda Octopus^® DAVD Flex Edition Software to manage the HUD, displaying real-time 3d imagery and communicating with divers through images, videos, technical drawings and messages. Divers access critical technical data and support directly through the HUD with On-Demand Telemetry such as real-time depth, compass, head tracking, dive timers, alerts, positioning, navigation, and enhanced video and audio capabilities to enhance dive safety and optimise mission outcomes.

The system supports both rapid deployment scenarios and detailed planning, with annotated 3D maps, making it beneficial for salvage operations and other complex dives. The latter scenario affords the greatest functionality and is particularly beneficial for repeat dives on a work site, where data, information and spatial context can be built in real-time and incorporated into the mission for subsequent dives.

The DAVD Flex radically transforms the dive mask into an immersive display capable of providing everything from life support data, to live high resolution 3D Sonar Data (Echoscope®) to advanced navigation displays to 3D Augmented Reality Displays.

Real-Time Video Processing with Edge Enhancement

Traditionally, divers have carried video cameras so surface supervisors can monitor and assist with operations. However, the diver typically gains little benefit from this footage and often serves mainly as a cameraman for the surface team, unable to view what the camera records. Underwater video recording presents major challenges, particularly in dark or sediment-filled environments where traditional lighting fails. The DiveVisionTracker overcomes these issues with an ultra-low-light HD camera module and optional illuminators, digitally linked to the DPP max processor. The DAVD Flex system revolutionizes conventional underwater video setups by delivering high-resolution, low-latency video directly to the diver’s HUD, simultaneously streaming it to the dive supervisor and support team.

Real-Time Digital Audio

Traditional diver audio communication is often difficult, even in optimal conditions, and serves as the sole link between the diver and the surface supervisor. DAVD Flex introduces a new era of digital diver communications, offering key features such as automatic noise cancellation and background noise suppression. These capabilities ensure clear audio transmission despite environmental noise from either the diver or the surface. Additionally, recorded speech, video audio tracks, and automated computer instructions are digitally output from the diver’s DPP max in crystal-clear quality.
