Quality Control Technician

Coda Octopus designs, manufactures, sells and support, systems and software for the marine survey industry. We are currently recruiting for the position of Quality Control Technician at our Edinburgh office. 

In this role, the QC Technician will be responsible for the inward inspection of both mechanical and electrical components. In addition to visual inspection and verification of parts received, a key responsibility will be to run functional tests on electronic PCB assemblies prior to final acceptance into stock and on production sub-assemblies. There will also be a requirement to report and liaise with vendors on quality issues identified.

Working as part of a QC team, the role will also have responsibility for the final test and inspection of finished product ensuring our deliveries are to the highest standard.

You are likely to have worked in electrical and electronic production, and whilst some experience in Quality Control would be advantageous, a solid background in electrical and electronic production is essential. We are therefore interested to hear from seasoned electrical/electronic technicians looking to move into a QC role. 

Key Skills relevant to the QC technician role:

  • You have worked in Quality control in a technology company in electronic and electro-mechanical manufacturing
  • You have experience in working with complex electrical and electronic assemblies
  • You have a good understanding of electro-mechanical systems and how they work
  • You have a basic understanding of electronics and mechanical engineering
  • You can read and understand technical documents and drawings
  • You have good PC/IT skills and are experienced in working with spreadsheets and Word documents
  • You have very good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • You can demonstrate an ability to identify and resolve quality issues
  • You can work as part of a team to resolve issues
  • You can demonstrate an ability to achieve on-time delivery 

Key Job functions:

  • Inspection of received goods including basic functional test
  • Inspection of production sub-assemblies
  • Assisting and advising production on quality matters
  • Inspection of finished items prior to delivery
  • Processing of returned faulty items and liaising with vendors
  • Assisting with the investigation of production issues
  • Helping to develop improved quality procedures and processes
