Offshore Engineer

Offshore Engineer with experience of using sonars and navigation sensors

Qualification: Essential Hydrographic Surveyor (Marine Based) or offshore engineer with experience of using sonar

Coda Octopus Products has a requirement for an Offshore Engineer with experience of using sonars and navigation sensors.

This role is intended to provide support to our customers by providing training or offshore support using our real time 3D volumetric sonar.  It is based in Edinburgh and involves extensive travel within and outside of UK.

The objectives of the role are:

  • To ensure that Coda Octopus’ customers gain maximum benefit from the use of our products through training
  • Draft technical plans on execution of customer’s project (installation requirements for successful integration and operation of our products)
  • To prepare project reports based on completion of offshore mission
  • To support installation of our products on customer’s premises
  • To collect in the course of his/her duties potential requirements for new products or new facilities that could be added to existing products and to feed these requirements into our Research and Product Development teams.
  • Provide technical support to customers

Requirements

We are looking for either a qualified hydrographic surveyor for this role or someone from offshore engineering discipline or the like.  It is essential that the successful candidate has some experience in customer facing engineering position.  Good writing skills is essential.   Furthermore, we are looking for someone who is reasonably fit and energetic, enthusiastic, likes challenges generally and flexible.

Qualifications

  • A good educational background with an engineering emphasis to degree level
  • Qualified as a hydrographic surveyor or have at least 4 years’ experience working offshore using navigation sensors and sonars
  • Ability to work independently offshore
  • Ability to debug and follow debug instructions
  • Good language skills, English is essential

Travel is an essential part of this role and may involve up to 50% of your time.
