CEO of Coda Octopus Products Pty Ltd, Robert Carsley, will be speaking at the Australian Oil & Gas Conference (AOG) 2016 in Perth: "Benefits of Real Time Sonar for Subsea Oil & Gas Application", on Wednesday 24th February 2016, 1:05 pm.

Abstract:

The deployment of 3D real time sonar technology is being used to minimize non-productive time in subsea applications such as: top hole drilling; offshore installation campaigns; touchdown monitoring; mattress placement; subsea infrastructure inspection, dredging activities; diver monitoring and gas leak detection. A 3D real time sonar system can generate a 3D, fully geo-referenced real-time image of the subsea scene from a static position from a single sonar ping. By pinging multiple times per second, the sonar can produce a real-time video of acoustic imagery and can 'see' objects moving and rotating in its field of view in real-time. The sonar is particularly effective at producing live subsea imagery when subsea visibility is very poor. Engineering data such as CAD models of structures can be imported into the real time scene to aid interpretation and increase productivity. With a depth rating of up to 4000m available, the sonar can be vessel, ROV or AUV mounted. The sonar can also be used as a hydrographical survey tool to produce 'As-Built' XYZ data sets. Examples of oil and gas applications from Australia and the rest of the world will be presented.
