Innovative Technology for Complex Structure Surveys
The Echoscope® range of real-time 3D volumetric imaging sonars excel at complex structure survey tasks where, unlike a typical seabed survey, the structure is composed of multiple layers each with varying and complex geometry. In ports and harbors, docks and bridge structures are often comprised of multi-layer piling structures as many as 20 pilings deep. This represents a significant challenge to all standard multi-beam and mapping sonars which typically can only detect the first row of pilings and are further hampered by the complex geometry causing multi-path and false detections. Our unique real-time 3D volumetric sonars, however, can image all of the pilings to the full depth typically in a single pass and provide statistically proven structural data. The ability to insonify the structure from many different angles in a single pass allows detection of much smaller defects with higher confidence over traditional sensors.

The USE Baseline Comparison Module used by many ports for change detection management automatically compares data online or recorded data with previously recorded data of the same area in order to make immediate comparisons and to identify critical issues such as scour, failing infrastructure or post-storm damage.
Our real-time 3D volumetric imaging sonars are in use in over 35 major ports in the United States and is used as their standard underwater security tool.
In a recent study by the US Federal Highway Authority, the Coda Octopus real-time 3D sonar technology was assessed the best acoustic-based technology for underwater inspection and is now in use for many such critical inspection projects.
