Junior Technician / Apprentice

Coda Octopus Products based in Edinburgh has a requirement a Junior Technician / Apprentice to join its busy team developing and manufacturing leading-edge subsea 3D imaging and survey technology used in a wide range of applications in the oil and gas, construction and security industries.

We are looking for an Apprentice to train on the job to become part of our established manufacturing team.

We will provide day-release and support for ongoing education.

The Apprentice will work in our Production Department and will be involved in a broad range of duties involving electronic and electro-mechanical assembly, installation and configuration of software and firmware on various productions including testing and fault finding at board level and 3D printing of parts.

The ideal candidate will also be very ambitious and like to have a broad work scope from hardware to software, testing to going out to sea to conduct sea testing of equipment.   As the Apprentice grows in knowledge, the role is likely to involve travel to customer site to assist with mobilization of equipment and will assist from time to time with preparation of equipment for rentals, demonstrations and exhibitions and may occasionally be required to go to customer’s premises and on-board vessels in support of our operations.

Applicants should have a demonstrable interest in engineering or electronics together with an aptitude for electro-mechanical assembly.

Applicants will ideally have obtained qualifications e.g. ONC/HNC in a technical subject together with some practical experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.

Demonstration of engineering projects done as a hobbyist will be taken into account.

On-the-job training and support in our products, technologies and the use of our systems and processes will be provided, alongside a day-release further education course in an appropriate discipline.

All candidates must have attained a good standard of basic Maths, English, IT or any subject in the sciences.
